Communicare Academy creates new artwork for City of Gosnells

Our amazing students at Communicare Academy, alongside art teacher Cassandra White-Dunn, have created an artwork for the City of Gosnells to showcase Australia’s inclusiveness and diversity. The artwork features all the continents of the world, wrapped in a ribbon with the words We Are 1.

The painting will be displayed at the City’s citizenship ceremonies and will help new Australian citizens feel welcomed and part of the community.

“We are so incredibly proud of all the students who participated in this project and the thought and creativity that went into the work,” Principal Matthew Borgward said. “The painting will be displayed at the City’s citizenship ceremonies, which is fantastic as it further embeds our school within the community and reflects the diversity we embrace not only in the Academy, but across Communicare.”

The City of Gosnells Mayor, Terresa Lynes, joined our students to accept the artwork. “Becoming an Australian Citizen is a significant day in the lives of many residents in our community and having local students involved adds a special element as we officially welcome our newest citizens to the community,” she said. “We also hope this encourages the students to explore other ways to be good citizens, by being active and engaged in the local community”.

The artwork was also featured in an article for the local Gosnells Examiner. Click on the button below to read it.
