Years 10-12

Our senior school students complete Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA).

CGEAs are nationally recognised qualifications that provide students options for further education and employment after high school.

These CGEA courses are provided through Communicare’s Registered Training Organisation and are delivered on campus by our qualified teachers. Our teachers support students working at their own pace through these certificates, helping students break down the work and build the functional literacy and numeracy skills necessary for everyday life.

Senior school students do 10 CGEA classes per week, 1x Physical Education class, 1x Health class, 2x Wellbeing classes, and 11x Fixed Focus classes. For students who require further literacy support we have two senior literacy support classes. You can take a look at an example of our senior student timetable here.

Senior school students are also able to complete Vocational Education Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) courses through South or North Metro TAFE while attending the Academy. Our staff assist students in finding a VETDSS course or work experience placement which will support their future education and employment opportunities.

Certificate I in General Education for Adults focusses on enhancing literacy and numeracy skills for students to successfully interpret texts and basic numeracy equations relevant to everyday situations.
