About the Academy

Communicare Academy is a Curriculum and Reengagement in Education (CARE) School. CARE schools are specialist education providers which have as their prime purpose, the education of secondary aged students who have been unable to access or have significant difficulty in accessing mainstream education.

The Academy opened in January 2014 with 40 year 9-12 students at a temporary location in one of Communicare’s offices in Cannington. In 2015, we were able to move into our purpose-built school campus on Royal Street in Kenwick.

Since 2014, Communicare Academy has supported over 500 students to re-engage in their education and achieve the skills necessary to build pathways to independent and empowered lives.

When the Academy first opened, we had enrolments from a variety of students facing different barriers to accessing their education. Over the last 10 years we have developed a specialisation in working with students who have high anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, trauma backgrounds, and who have faced severe bullying in mainstream schools.

Our tailored programs meet the educational needs of students while also providing high quality, holistic wellbeing support.
