Wellbeing Programs

We know that when students feel well, they are able to achieve their full potential.

At the Academy, we provide wrap around supports to each student to support their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. While the Student Services Team provide the supports, the teachers provide social-emotional development in class and through the Wellbeing Programs.

We run 3 Wellbeing classes across the year groups. Years 7 and 8 participate in the Pathfinders program, Years 9 and 10 do the Living Ways program, and Years 11 and 12 do the New Beginnings program. Each program focusses on age-appropriate learning on healthy relationships, emotional literacy, self-confidence, protective behaviours, and other personal development and resilience building activities. These programs have been designed in house by staff at the Academy using best practice methods and teachings, with the protective behaviours curriculum coming from the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum.

The program focuses on understanding one’s identity and requires students to analyse their current lifestyle and factors which contribute to their ideas and sense of self.

  • My Birth Story;
  • My Family Tree;
  • Influential People;
  • Gratitude;
  • Great Men/Women;
  • Personality Types.

The program focuses further on the student’s sense of self-identity and allows opportunity for them to explore and reflect on their life and factors which influence their identity and place in the world.

  • Gender Roles;
  • Puberty;
  • Menstruation;
  • Body Image;
  • Self Confidence.

This program focuses on building strategies to support growth and optimism for future opportunities and development.

  • Preparation for Work Time
