In Term 3, there has been an emphasis in-class towards Science which is hands-on, practical and fun, as we believe our students are much more engaged if they can see, touch and feel what they are learning.

The projects that our Science class have engaged in this term include: generating designs from complex Lego instructions and learning about the process of sublimination by conducting experiments with 'dry ice.'

Lastly, the students have been researching the history of human spaceflight, rockets and space shuttles. During this time the class was split into two groups ‘Team Rocket’ and ‘The Big Bang Project’ where they had to assemble and launch their own rockets.

It was great to see positive teamwork on display, a solid work ethic and thorough planning which resulted in two successful shuttle launches.  It has been really promising to witness an increase in the resilience and wellbeing of our younger students at the Academy and we look forward to seeing them finish off the year strongly.
