We deliver the Certificate I in Hospitality; a nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) course providing students with practical skills for the workplace.
This qualification provides our students with necessary knowledge and skills of initial works and provides them with a pathway for our students to work in various hospitality settings such as: restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs and cafes.
To obtain this qualification, our students complete the following six units:
- Work effectively with others
- Provide customer information and assistance
- Use hygienic practices for food safety
- Prepare and present sandwiches
- Prepare and present simple dishes
- Participate in safe work practices
Our students work in the Academy commercial kitchen to acquire the hands-on cooking skills and use online resources to understand theoretical concepts. The course includes formal assessments conducted by a chef currently working in the hospitality industry.
Additionally, our hospitality students spend time in Foodbank’s commercial kitchen as volunteers, providing them with hands-on experience in food preparation.
